“Penis Hill” is Hard news for KTVB in Boise

Mar 7th, 2008 | By H. Lukas Green | Category: Idaho, News

Let there be no doubt that KTBV Channel 7 in Boise knows how to get a grip on “hard news.”

I stood speechless in front of my television this evening when the Diva of the Dial, Dee Sarton, looked out from that tube to deliver the “top” story with all the professional savvy of a well-seasoned anchor.

I was in breathless anticipation when Sarton informed viewers that nearly nine months have passed since someone burned the image of a giant penis onto the lawn of Simplot Hill, the new location for what was suppose to be the Idaho Governor’s Mansion.

Penis Hill, Boise
KTVB Channel 7 hits Gov. Otter hard over penis hill issue

Sarton reminded viewers that the gigantic phallic symbol is a hard image to shake, but she assured us that ace reporter Ysabel Bilbao had a solid grip on the issue.

KTVB’s website tagged Bilbao’s story as “Uncut” - sometimes a story just writes itself!

Bilbao shoved the stick microphone in Gov. Butch Otter’s face and hit him below the belt with the hard question on everyone’s mind in Boise - “We’re talking about that symbol on the hill. People are calling us and wondering why nine months later the phallic symbol is not gone.”

Otter was not about to get sucked into a penis question. He zipped up.

“. . . that question is better directed toward the Department of Administration that has a responsibility for that,” Otter said with a Vaseline grin.

As it turns out, the penis part of the hill still belongs to the Governor’s former father-in-law, J.R. Simplot. Otter speculated that when billionaire Simplot donated his former hilltop split level, he may have kept title to the lower two-thirds of the property. (holding onto the family jewels?)

Bilbao pounded Otter with deep, penetrating questions. She was not going to let the Governor get by with any lubricated response. No sir!

Otter’s eyes bulged from their sockets as he tried to slip out of Bilbao’s firm grip. But this story was as hard as a rock and she knew it!

The billionaire’s former residence was suppose to be the new Governor’s Mansion, but nobody really wants to live in it, not even Otter who was a fixture in the house before he divorced Simplot’s daughter.

The residence is now called “The Idaho House,” which translates into taxpayers getting screwed in the end. Thus, the giant penis seems fitting.

TALK ABOUT HITTING BELOW THE BELT!!!

  1. 9 months! Now that is what I call fertile ground! HILLarious!

  2. A tad bit Benny-Hillish in its odd transmission from camera to subject only obviously amateurish in the presentation. Perhaps it would’ve been different if filmed from a different vantage point. Maybe that could’ve revealed that it was in imprint left by an other-worldly vehicle with tiny liquid occupants.

  3. oh, shit i laughed myself wet! only in idaho!

  4. I think they should landscape it into a fountain and name it after Larry Craig. Thar he blows!

  5. OMG!! I just saw this on CNN! Idaho makes national news with another penis story!

  6. will it get bigger???

  7. Pathetic. At a whole lot of levels.

  8. and this rates as a TV news story?

  9. I am good friends with the people who created this, hillarious!!

  10. Channel 7 gets a national news story and it’s about a giant dick on Simplot Hill. The irony is rich!

  11. this was awesome. did anyone notice that when they ripped up the old dead grass and put in sod it looked just like idaho? and before that they reseeded with a different grass and it made it into a bright green weaner instead of a brown one?
